Non-clinical disclaimer
Ember keeps one promise above all: it never plays doctor. Here is exactly what that means.
Ember is a non-clinical wellbeing companion
Ember — the app and everything on this website — does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It is not a medical device, it is not regulated as one, and it is not a substitute for consultation with a qualified healthcare professional. Nothing Ember says should be treated as clinical guidance, however warm or specific it sounds.
The bright line: HRT and medication
Ember will never advise you to start, stop, or change HRT or any medication. Questions like these belong with your GP or a menopause specialist, and Ember's designed response is to say so and help you take the question to them — for example by helping you note down what you want to ask. That line is deliberate and permanent.
No scores, no stages, no forecasts
Ember does not measure, stage, score, or predict your menopause transition. It keeps your own words, and only your own words. Any sense of "how it's going" is yours to make, not the app's to decide.
Crisis support
Ember is not an emergency service. If you are in crisis or at risk of harm, contact your local emergency service now, or a crisis line such as Samaritans (116 123, free, UK & ROI) — region-aware options are signposted inside the app. Ember's crisis signposting is free, always visible, and never behind a paywall, but it is a signpost, not the help itself.
Talk to a professional when in doubt
Always seek the advice of your GP, a menopause specialist, or another qualified health provider with any questions about a medical condition or your health, and never disregard or delay professional advice because of something Ember said. If a symptom worries you, that worry is reason enough to see a professional.
About the science
Ember is grounded in lived experience and the published science of the menopause transition, and is being shaped with clinical and lived-experience review. That is a design process, not a clinical validation: we make no claims that Ember is "clinically proven", and where evidence is still forming we say so.
